  • I have long understood the power imbalance between UN security and the local populace – as well as the ineffective worth of their presence. A former acquaintance of mine spoke candidly of being appalled by the sexual abuse within the Peace Corp when he participated in the program many years ago. It is unfortunate that your “teaser” advertisements are nothing more than that – teasers. You should be able to give some examples that specify the countries supplying the offending personnel, the charges brought and the actions (not) taken. Any installation of UN personnel should have a point of contact for the local population. The cause you address is important but bureaucracy has never been nothing more than a job producer.
